Our Mission

Supporting separated fathers and the men through the life transition of parental break-up, so as to maintain a healthy father-child relationship while ensuring their own health and well-being. Our goal is to break isolation through group sharing, helping each person build upon their personal strengths to overcome difficulties, to encourage member participation, mutual aid and social solidarity.

- PSi offers fathers engagement within a process of reflection / development over the short, medium and / or long term, through individual interviews and support groups. PSi offers support over the short, medium and / or long term depending on need. Additionally the fathers will be supported through legal proceedings and / or reflection of their changing paternity at various stages of their separation.

Our Approach

We offer a welcoming environment, listening, non-judgmental support and respect for diversity and individual characteristics;

- Our approach is based on the concept and heads towards "participatory justice"; demystifying the judicial process. Additionally we are aware of perceptions which citizens and fathers have of justice, as corroborated in studies conducted with fathers who are members of Separated Fathers Inc.

- A relational-humanist orientation, with awareness while being informative (welcoming and non-judgmental, legal information, co-parenting)

- A grieving approach; with stages of transition; pre / post-breakup

- A motivational approach, accountability (empowerment) and collaboration

- A generativity approach ("Generative fathering")

- An approach oriented towards solutions; (coaching vs. therapy)

Other forms of support

- Mentoring, pairng new members with those who have overcome their grief/loss.

- Conferences and awareness workshops for their active role in the education and socialization of their children.
